Situated on the University’s medical school campus at Foresterhill, Aberdeen, the building is located right in the centre of the University’s medical teaching and research facilities.
The research laboratory and office building was completed in 2 phases. Flexibility was one of the main priorities and the concept was based on a ‘hotel’ that could expand and contract depending on funding availability. The building includes double height labs combined with offices and write up areas. The central atrium provides the major spatial feature and social hub for the building.
BDG Thomson Gray provided Quantity Surveying and Health and Safety services on the project. The Health and Safety services included the provision of Planning Supervisor services under the CDM Regulations.
The completed development has provided a new purpose built educational and research facility for the University, creating a new space enabling it to continue thriving as a global leader in medical sciences.
